It's About Time
I got a check for a good deal of money in the mail today. It was from the California EDD Office (Disability Office). I am very happy to be getting some assistance while I am not able to help myself, but it also upsets me a bit. I’m not even living in California anymore, but for the 28 years I was, the government wouldn’t help me when I needed help. Now that I’m halfway across the county, they decide it’s ok to help me. Where was my help when I was unemployed in California? Where was California when I was on the wrong anti-depressants and couldn't afford to se a doctor? Where was my help the last time I had surgery and they wouldn't pay me anything? Not to mention, you can’t smoke anywhere in California anymore without someone yelling at you. As much as I love it, California pisses me off sometimes.
Maggie and I are off to Kansas City today to see the new Michael Moore film Fahrenheit 9/11 (can you believe it's not playing in Lawrence?). We’re both really excited. I’ll let you know what I think about it later.
