Can You Tell Me How To Get….
Here’s a recap of my weekend:
Friday:
Started out the weekend by going out to Carlos O’Kelleys with Maggie, Whitney and Jason for some Mexican food. Have I mentioned they have awesome nachos? We then went to Miracle Video where we rented Trekkies, a great documentary about Star Trek fans. If you haven’t see in you really should. I’ve seen it three times now, and while that’s a bit much, there are parts that still kill me. It’s worth the cost of the rental just to see Bones the cat.

Saturday:
Maggie and I went to Science City to see the Sesame Street exhibit. We were both super excited about going and couldn’t wait to see some of the sets and some of the puppets. Well, it wasn’t all that exciting. We felt that if we had been about twenty years younger it would have been the coolest thing on earth. But since we were older, there wasn’t much for us to do. They had the exhibit set up poorly too. One of the first things on the tour is a video kiosk where you can watch the Sesame Street episode where Big Bird Finds out that Mr. Hooper is dead and isn’t ever coming back. Not the cheeriest way to start off a day.

While at Science City we decided to spend some time checking out the entire place. There were many neat and informative things but once again, we were too old for most of it. It would have been awesome if we were kids. And here’s how old I am; most of the time we were there, I just kept thinking of how messy and dirty kids can be and wondering how many people have to stay up all night disinfecting that place. We wondered if maybe they just pump disinfectant in through the fire sprinkler system. Makes sense to me.
After Science City we went down to the Plaza to find some lunch. We decided to go to the Cheesecake Factory. They have really good food. I was impressed with the meal but the service was far from good. Our waitress went off duty right after we ordered and it was about fifteen minutes before anyone ever came to check on us. Even though it is the Cheesecake Factory we didn’t have any cheesecake. We did see some of the slices of cheesecake being brought out and let me tell you; they’re about the size of a football. It was way too much cheesecake. I guess it would be pretty pathetic if their cheesecake slices were tiny…after all, they are the Cheesecake Factory.
After a bit of window-shopping we headed home to chill on the couch. We watched the Magdalene Sisters, a depressing movie about Irish women in a Catholic asylum. I can’t really say much about it, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my favorite movie. I will say that it was very shocking to find out that these asylums were only recently shut down.
Sunday:
Since it was Halloween, I thought it would be fun to rent some scary movies and just wait around for the kiddies to show up. I went out and rented A Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th and In The Mouth Of Madness. I remembered really liking these movies a youngster. I guess I am getting old because I really didn’t care for them anymore. I guess it all seems scarier when you’re ten years old.
And Guess what. All of those kiddies that were supposed to come by and get candy never came. We only had to answer the door four times. We saw about ten costumes in all. I guess our street isn’t the coolest street in town or maybe kids just aren’t into Halloween like they used to be. The cool part is that we have candy for weeks now.
That’s about it. Good times were had by all.
