This Just In...

Audio Engineers are ruining our music.

I think that any musician, audio engineer, producer or audiophile has known about Auto-Tune, or similar products, for years. So why is this making the news seven years after the fact?

Some people think that if you're going to record you have got to record to analog tape. Many people disagree. I personally prefer Pro Tools over analog recording. Some of the things I like that are that you can change pitch, replace sounds and have most of your studio in your computer. There are so many things to like about digital recording.

Anyway, I'm not trying to change anyone's mind or sell anything, I just wanted to say this one thing: If you can't sing or play your instrument, Auto-Tune will not help you. If you are too out of tune, Auto-Tune will make you sound worse. I mean, I guess there are ways to make it fix every note in a song; but what engineer is going to do that? Who has the time? Auto-Tune is mostly used when a singer is slightly off key. It's not that they can't sing, it's just that sometimes we all make mistakes.

Next thing you know we'll see this headline in the news:

REVERB; the not so silent killer.
Reverb makes you sound like you're in a big room or a cave when you really aren't.
And it's ruining our music.
