Jedi Mind Trick
A few weeks ago Maggie and I were shopping at a certain discount store and we noticed a sign near the door. It was an advertisement that said the store would be having a Star Wars Episode III event on April 2nd and 3rd. Needless to say, we were very excited about having our pictures taken with Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, and Yoda. I was even hoping for a millennium Falcon to be parked in the parking lot when we came back.
Today we headed back to the store, armed with our camera, hoping to see some crazy Star Wars stuff. When we got there we saw a shelf of new action figures and the new Episode III book, nothing major. We walked around the whole store and didn't see anything else. Finally I asked an employee about the event and they directed me to the camera department. We were skeptical but headed back there anyway.
When we got to the camera department this is what we saw, this was the big Star Wars event:

The advertised event was no more than a cardboard cutout of Darth Vader. There was a whole in the back of the cutout that you could talk into it and it would make your voice sound like Vader. There was also a camera set up in case you wanted to get your picture taken.
Not quite what I'd call an event.
I'm just glad that we didn't have kids that were really looking forward to this. Could you imagine if your kids thought they were going to be meeting their favorite Star Wars characters in person and they ended up meeting a cardboard cutout? I wonder how many kids cried over this today.
It's nice to see a major corporation giving back to the community like this.
